     About the Ranch
Bar S Ranch is a clothing free country club and resort located on 400 acres of gently rolling meadows and woodlands. Come enjoy our dream. Leave the stresses and pressures of life behind while you relax in the tranquility, security and privacy you will find at the Bar S Ranch.

     Common Hesitations
  • Everyone will be staring at me!
    - If you walk through a mall nude, people certainly would. Here everyone is nude and it is highly unlikely.

  • I'm (pick one) - too fat, too skinny, etc.
    - Our members are not beauty queen or Greek gods, just ordinary people like you.

  • What if someone I know is there?
    - If they are here, they are nude also. Now you have something else in common.

  • What if someone finds out I'm a nudist?
    - We go to great lengths to protect the privacy of our members and guests. Nudism is really not anything to be ashamed of; it is practiced worldwide.

    NO White Elephants On Saturday?
    on Mon., August 3, 2015 (9 reads)

In spite of the notices of a White Elephant Sale on Saturday, August 1st at the Bar S Ranch, there was not one single white elephant in site for purchase to the many members and guests who perused the sale area. Approximately 50 people meandered through the merchandise searching for this elusive creature and although their search was in vain, they did find exceptionally great items and bargains for purchase.

Beautiful jewelry, antique tables, shoes, handbags, kitchenware, tiki torches, lovely plants and other items too numerous to mention were purchased. People also donated money in the sale, knowing that the money was going to be used for activities at the Ranch. Activities are a vital part of the Ranch social life, and Cathy is doing an outstanding job of revitalizing the calendar for members and guests. Members are volunteering to host events and parties so that our calendar will be full for the year.

In the afternoon, DJ Marc played music for everyone by the pool. A wide variety of upbeat, entertaining music was heard as people played
volleyball, danced, played Jenga, laughed and relaxed the afternoon away. At 6:30ish, although not scheduled, an impromptu potluck was developed and the people who remained on the grounds enjoyed boneless ribs, pork loin, baked beans, home grown "maters" and cucumbers, grilled asparagus, sauteed mushrooms, a vegetable medley, and strawberry and chocolate cakes.

As nightfall approached, one of our newest members, Mike, wanted to sing so the Karaoke machine was placed under the gazebo and several people tried their hand at singing. These were the results, Mike can sing, Lynn can not, Diana and Cathy tried, Bill chimed in and Randy tells jokes. The others who participated with side spitting laughter, playing cards by the pool, swimming, and talking the night away made the atmosphere a very pleasant experience.

There were 10 new people in attendance on Saturday, and 3 couples were first timers. Two couples camped overnight, one in the RV park and one by the lake. We obtained another new membership on Saturday and the mood was happy.

Sunday also brought 3 more new couples to the Ranch and a large crowd was in evidence. Another couple joined the membership ranks and the NEW ATTITUDE remains contagious. Thanks to everyone who made the weekend great.

     In Memoriam
On October 7, 2014, the cofounder of the Bar S Ranch, Harvey Ellis Stewart, Jr. passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 23,1940 and spent most of his life promoting the nudist lifestyle. Ellis started the Dixie Sun Club in Georgia before moving to North Carolina. Ellis and Wanda purchased the first 200 acres of the Ranch and used it for cattle farming for several years before opening the Bar S Ranch in 1989. Several charter members gathered by the lake and floated in inner tubes before the first clubhouse was built. An additional 200 acres was purchased, another clubhouse built and the Ranch became one of the largest landed clubs (in acreage) in the United States.

The Bar S Ranch will continue to thrive under new management and the legacy will be preserved.
