Sharing Our Talents
When one walks into the pool area at the Ranch for the first time, a cursory glance reveals people laughing, talking, reading, or playing volleyball sans clothes. Few realize until after they have been at the Ranch for a while, exactly what it takes to make the atmosphere a fun, relaxing one for all to enjoy.
The Ranch is an environment that houses people of many talents. Thanks to the efforts of these talented people, we all enjoy the benefits of their various fields of expertise. Members and guests this week exhibited their talents in many ways. The weekend of July 4th and the following week have showcased the talents of chefs, culinary artists, carpenters, and carpet layers. Thanks to the initiative of David and Susan in purchasing the carpet, the contributions of members, the carpet laying abilities of Kenn, John, and Brudder, and the energy of other members, we now have a fully carpeted deck. In addition, Mike(Suzie) built a new bar and Craig and Marty helped finance that operation. So many members are enjoying the concoctions of the "Blender Beauties" and contribute tips to the Bar Fund to insure the blenders keep mixing.
Typically, after a holiday weekend, the crowds are smaller, and even though the crowd was smaller than last weekend, the laughter could be heard across the lake, over the meadow, and through the Woods. On Friday night, hosts Mike and Sandy prepared finger lickin' ribs and pork loin and John and Lynda made beer can chicken. The other dishes added to the meal were delectable and all left with sauce on their faces and fire in their tummies. Early Saturday morning, Charles, in Lynn's Flintstonemobile, hauled away the remnants of Friday's feast.
On Saturday, John and Beulah stopped at the produce stand, bought corn and prepared it for the crowd by the pool. Beulah is also known for her delicious deviled eggs and John even added his own special touch by sprinkling cinnamon instead of paprika on the eggs, much to Beulah's dismay. They were eaten and perhaps a new dish is born..or maybe not..
Saturday night brought Chef Mike to the grill once more to fix hot Italian Sausages and Bratwurst while the crowd outside worked up an appetite around the bar. Sandy and Lynn heated the leftovers from the night before and rang the dinner bell. The crowd skipped, or walked or stumbled into the clubhouse to sample the talents of the chefs once again before leaving for a golf cart ride.
The Ranch loves the talents of the members. Whether they cook, build, entertain, sing, dance, or work quietly behind the scenes to make sure all gets done, the talents of the Ranch members are greatly appreciated. We all benefit from one another, and the efforts are more and more obvious as each week passes.
