Sensational Sunday is July 4th
As Sensational Sunday began, participants for the second annual Lake Wanda Fishfest began registering for the event hosted by John/Lynda and Bill Steve/Anne. Fishermen and fisherwomen adorned the banks of Lake Wanda and attempted to catch the most or the biggest "fishies" that swam the depths of the lake. Kenn and Bill Steve caught the biggest and the most..Clarence caught something..Lynn did not..Susan caught the most for the women,Sandy caught the biggest and by noon the contest was over. Prizes were awarded by the pool and top winners received trophies and cash awards and all others received prizes and cash awards. The annual event has become a fierce competition for some and a relaxing alternative for others. Thanks to our hosts for organizing the event and donating prizes.
Sensational Sunday is only half over and volleyball in the pool offers a refreshing activity for those who aren't baking in the sun. The blender is heard in the background, music is playing and door prizes are given once more.
Bill Steve and his helpers begin shucking corn, cutting potatoes and onions, and Mike gets the pots ready for the Low Country Shrimp Boil, the first ever held at the Ranch.
By 6:00, the food was ready and members lined up once again to try the delicious food. Bill Steve and Anne were the hosts for the event and brought the shrimp and kielbasa while others bought large quantities of corn, potatoes, and onions. Many thanks to Christa/Kenn, Rose/Dave, John/Beulah, Lynn and Hardware Joe for the remaining ingredients needed to complete the boil.
Singing, Golf Cart Rides, trips to the Sauna, fires by the lake, poker games, and conversation with friends brought the Sensational Sunday to a conclusion and a sense of accomplishment (and exhaustion) was felt by all who participated in making the weekend celebration so successful.
