Fridays Are Fun at the Ranch
On Friday, July 2nd, many members found out how much fun Fridays can be at the Ranch. For the last couple of years, a growing of members have decided to host spontaneous dinners, activities and various events designed to entertain their other Ranch family members. While most of us relaxed in the sun, Clarence went to a local chicken farm..chased a few chickens, plucked a few feathers, took their wings, and brought them back to the Ranch to feed the sunbirds who were ravenous by the late afternoon. If the truth be told, Clarence and Jan went to a local supplier and purchased enough wings to feed the residents of Rockingham County, came back to the Ranch and spent the rest of their afternoon deep frying them on the back patio. By 6:00 pm, the aroma of chicken permeated the air and other members began filling the tables with side dishes to supplement an already abundant meal. It has been proven that the only thing that can silence the rambunctious Ranch family is a mouthful of food, and as members feasted on the scrumptious wings and other food, one could have heard a pin drop. Many thanks to ours hosts, Clarence and Jan for providing a meal that many had been anticipating since they first prepared them for us last year.
Clean-up accomplished and the second round of Fun on Friday began. A pool side bar, built by Mike(Suzie), became the focal point for creative concoctions for the entire weekend. Marty and Suzie have become the "Blender Beauties" and continued to mix beverages for those who wished to imbibe. Our topless waiter, Craig, made sure all "glasses" remained full as he made his way through the crowd, delivering the frozen beverages. The new phrase the "Blender Beauties" have coined is "Try This" and many, although skeptical, do just that.
What's a bar without Karaoke? We don't know because we had our share of singing this weekend. Old favorites, although sometimes difficult to recognize, such as Respect and Heard it Through the Grapevine, and some not so favorites such as Achy Breaky Heart, were bellowed out over the microphones. The group gathered by the pool enjoyed the various renditions of the tunes sung by the Karaoke Crowd. The dogs in the Woods, and the wild animals in the woods, howled as they heard the singing but the laughter was louder than the singing and no one seemed to mind the slightly out of sync vocalists.
After the Bar closed, many members were entertained by the stand up,oops sit down, comedic antics of Clarence and David. Although they seemed to amuse themselves more than their spouses, many of us had sore ribs and jaws from laughing at their antics. Friday fun had now become Super Saturday and everyone went to bed in anticipation of the events that would occur on Saturday.
Although Fun Friday was over Super Saturday was dawning and ......
