Halloween Party Plugs in and Pollinates
Bizarre and creative costumes are one of the highlights of ALL Halloween parties at the Ranch and this year was no different. Two of the most popular costumed couples were Todd and Monica as the honey bee and the flower patch and Clarence and Jan as the electrical outlet and the plug. We had Chia pets, maiden, Little Red Riding and the Big Bad Wolf, a sexy librarian and her bookish companion, a horny devil, a sexy 70's chick, and a genie and her harem master, to name a few. We had a few unexpected visitors such as the BIG red lobster, the amazing ape man, and a Sheik who sported some heavy artillery under his robes. DJ Mike even got into the Halloween spirit, donning his KISS mask, and entertaining the dancers with his great music, and fun filled activities.
Approximately 49 people joined in the festivities, and in spite of torrential downpours outside, the atmosphere inside remained hot and sunny. We danced, we laughed, we played games and the entire night was a tremendous success.
Lori conducted our first Silent Auction to raise money for new chairs and umbrellas. Thanks to the generosity of our members who made baskets, donated services, and made monetary contributions, and the people who made the bids and placed tips in the PJ drink can, the auction can be touted as a financial success. It takes all of us to make activities a success, and last night proved that when we work together, we are VERY successful and have fun doing it.
Members presented Lynn with a beautiful plaque and a wonderful day at a spa to show their appreciation for her years of work at the Ranch. Filled with emotion, and showing her softer side, Lynn thanked the members for the gifts, the sentiments and love behind the acknowledgement at the party and expressed her appreciation for all of the help, support, and love shown to her through the years.
The party would not have been complete without the return of Ken and Susan. Susan says she is home for good and Ken has from 2 to 6 months and then he will be a permanent fixture at future poker parties. We have missed them tremendously and are glad to have them back.
Mere words cannot express the thanks to each and everyone who attended the party, participated in the success, donated their time and money, prepared delicious food, and provided laughter and fun for all involved. The decorating crew did a fabulous job of creating atmosphere and consisted of Sandy, Mike, Marty, Craig, Buddy, Don and Lynn. The clean-up crew got the place in shape so that the clubhouse will be ready for the Thanksgiving feast, which will be held the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Mike, Sandy, Monica, Todd,Lori, Edie, and Jim were instrumental in taking down decorations and disposing of the remnants of a fantastic party. Many thanks to Jim who provided breakfast for the members on Sunday morning and to Marty for assisting him.
We proved last night that we are a family, a team and a fun filled, fun loving group and that when we work together, wonders never cease.
