National Picnic/Sunglass Day
What a nice surprise this "holiday" turned out to be! David and Susan arrived at the Ranch on Saturday afternoon with the news that Jan and Clarence would we joining them in a short time to provide dinner for everyone. It was announced that today(June 26) was National Picnic/Sunglass Day and that our hosts were giving us a picnic. Clarence prepared his now famous wings in the fryer he placed on the back porch. David was the shaker and mover as he "shook" the secret coating that covered the wings. Properly covered, Clarence proceeded to work his magic with the bird wings while Susan and Jan prepared delectable sandwiches in the kitchen. We also had fruit, veggies, snacks, and cookies to complete the picnic.
After partaking of the fabulous picnic fare, we were "invited" to join in a poolside game designed by Jan. Each member was presented with a pair of sunglasses and had to following the instructions carefully stapled on the earpieces. Some of the tasks were more detailed than others, some were trivial facts, and some were questions that had to be answered by the participant. Nothing difficult, but lots of fun and laughs.
After the picnic, we languished by the pool to allow time for digestion, before departing on a late night golf cart ride. Although Roy wound up with a flat tire, the ride continued to the "Little Meadow" where music was provided by two golf carts. Tributes to Michael Jackson were being played so an impromptu dance was held, and the silhouettes of the dancers on the trees was an awesome sight. Don did assist Roy in getting his tire fixed so that they could join us for the dance.
Many thanks to Clarence, Jan, David, and Susan, for providing an impromptu picnic to grateful members.
