Memorial Day Weekend Members and Guests "Ham it Up"
Memorial Day Weekend at the Ranch is significant for several reasons. Many of our members have served our country and given so much to insure that we as Americans can cherish the freedoms we have. It is a privilege to have so many dedicated women and men who have given so much to us, belong to our Ranch family. Thank you all for your service.
The weekend also kicks off the "summer season" and visitors join us for the hospitality provided. Many first time guests participated in the festivities and were very complimentary of the warmth of the Ranch family and the friendliness of everyone they met. Thank you all for extending your hand and opening your arms to welcome others.
Several new couples have already joined this season and Memorial Day weekend activities allowed them to participate for the first time. Not only did they get to see how the members "ham it up" on golf cart rides, play volleyball, partake of Ham, Ham, and more Ham all weekend, they got to enjoy delicious concoctions prepared by the "Bar Beauties". Although Craig is not technically a Bar Beauty, he did an excellent job of delivering
the frozen drinks for all to enjoy. Many thanks to Cheri and Steve for donating a new frozen drink maker.
The Holiday potluck dinner reminded us once again of the fabulous cooks hiding behind the gates of the Ranch. Spiral sliced ham was the meat of the weekend and the side dishes were absolutely fantastic. Desserts that melted in your mouth and on to your waistline were also enjoyed by all. Thanks to all the members who provided enough food to last us the entire weekend.
A continental type brunch awaited everyone as they ventured into they clubhouse on Sunday morning. Flapsticks(pancakes wrapped around a link sausage), bagels, muffins, fruit, Danish pastries, fruit and yogurt parfait and a sausage and egg casserole were offered for all to enjoy. Juices and coffee was provided and Susan mixed Bloody Mary's for anyone who wanted to partake. Many thanks to everyone who shopped, cooked, donated, and helped with clean up.
On Sunday afternoon, many enjoyed games of volleyball, reading by the pool or the lake, fishing, playing board games or just socializing with friends. Several disappeared for afternoon naps, tired from a long weekend of fun. Highlights of the weekend include pre-dark golf cart rides, several trails blocked by large trees, "lifesaver's", "gummy bears", alleged spills from a golf cart, members participating in hilarious X box games, and many other activities that gave everyone an opportunity to "ham it up". Although most of us were tired of eating ham by Monday, we will never tire of being hams as the summer progresses.
The Ranch continues to thrive and flourish thanks to the contributions and efforts of our members. We work together to have fun as we work, play, laugh, dance, sing, and relax with our Ranch family. Thanks again to everyone who makes the Ranch work for all of us.
