Cinco De Mayo Celebration
When most people decide to celebrate Cinco De Mayo in America, they have a party and serve tacos, refried beans, and rice and call it a day. Not true at the Bar S Ranch. On Saturday, members and guests were treated to traditional lunch hosted by Cheri, Steve, Elizabeth, and Kelly. Approximately 40 people gathered to learn about imported foods that were much more authentic than OUR version of the basic tacos we have created here. After Cheri described each dish and it's origin, we were invited to feast on the numerous creations prepared by Cheri, Elizabeth, Kelly and Steve. The 15 feet of table space was filled to maximum capacity with delicious food that was a new experience for many of us. Elizabeth made a cake that was light, delectable, and a perfect finishing touch for a marvelous meal.
After lunch, with bellies filled to maximum capacity as well, members and guests moved to the pool area, and the hosts continued to treat us with Mexican beer, frozen Margaritas and Margaritas on the rocks. Members and guests relaxed by the pool as several volunteered to uncover the pool. The filter was turned on to get the process of clearing the water started. Salt was added on Sunday so hopefully we will start seeing results soon.
Opening Day was a success due to the contributions of our hosts and their efforts are appreciated, applauded and acknowledged as our first official party of the season.
We had five new guests and about 30 members in attendance for opening day.
Thanks again to Kelly, Elizabeth, Cheri and Steve for the delicious food, beverages and party atmosphere.
